Stephanie M. Mastores, O.D.
Dr. Stephanie M. Mastores is a 2009 graduate of the Ohio State College of Optometry, and the most recent addition to the staff of Central Phoenix Eye Care. She attended the University of Arizona before obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio State University. Prior to graduating from optometry school, she completed two externships in Arizona at the Whiteriver Indian Health Hospital and at the Souther Arizona VA Hospital in Tucson.
Dr. Mastores is an active member of Volunteers for Optometric Service to Humanity (VOSH) which provides eye exams to the underprivileged around the world. She has participated in VOSH trips to Ecuador, Mexico, and Cameroon. She also is an adjunct faculty member at the Midwestern University Arizona College of Optometry in Glendale. She teaches clinical procedures, and is the faculty advisor for the student branch of VOSH.
Dr. Mastores has a special interest in specialty contact lenses, and is certified to perform Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT- previously known as Ortho-Keratology) which uses specialized rigid contact lenses to allow a nearsighted person to gradually reduce their nearsightedness (myopia) while sleeping in these lenses. For those who qualify, this is a non-surgical refractive service that would allow a patient to go through the whole day without having to wear glasses or contact lenses.
Her other interests in optometry is the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases. As a fully licensed optometric physician, she can perform minor in-office procedures (remove a sliver from the surface of the eye), treat and diagnose glaucoma (a disease due to high pressure in the eye), and prescribe antibiotics for conjunctivitis ("pink-eye").
We are happy to have her expertise to help with examining children, toddlers, and babies. She has participated in the InfantSee program, a national organization of optometrists who examine infants from 6 to 12 months of age, at no charge, in an effort to diagnose early vision and eye problems such as amblyopia (lazy eye) and eye tumors, which can occur in infants.
Dr. Mastores is a member of the Arizona Optometric Association (AzOA), the American Optometric Association (AOA), and the American Academy of Optometry (AAO).

A. James Frank, III, O.D.
Dr. Frank has been in Arizona since 1982. He partnered with Dr. Kantor in 1991, and they recently merged in 2003.
Dr. Frank performs general eye examinations for children, teens, adults, and seniors. He has recently become certified CRT (using special contact lenses to re-shape the cornea-outer surface of the eye). This allows those candidates to sleep in their lenses overnight, remove them in the morning, and be glasses and contacts free for the remainder of the day. Then the "retainer lens" is put back on in the evening at bedtime, and the process starts over again. If you have any interest in this non-surgical refractive procedure, make an appointment to see Dr. Frank for an eye examination and CRT consultation.
Dr. Frank is also licensed to perform all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to treat eye diseases such as: Conjunctivitis ("Pink Eye"), Glaucoma, Eyelid inflammation or disease (Blepharitis), Iritis, Eye Allergies, Eye or Corneal abrasions, and Dry Eye.
With his background in pathology, he can answer your questions about cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and dry eye.
Dr. Frank is a member of the Arizona and American Optometric Associations since 1982.
Feel free to call either of our doctors about any questions that you may have regarding your eyes or eye care. If they cannot speak to you at the initial call, they will call you back within 24 hours.
